This is a quarter ounce Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coin. It’s approximately the dimensions of a Canadian or American cent, and appears equivalent in weight. It feels really little when you compare and contrast it to a 1 ounce gold coin, or to one of my 1 kg silver bars. The 1 ounce coins are amusingly little, small cute little items. The rationale behind my buying a lot of small denominations of gold plus silver is that I don’t have a lot of extra cash laying around, but I’m trying to acquire precious metals on a regular basis and this gives me a way to accomplish that within my personal resources. I can’t buy 1 ounce gold coins monthly but I can buy 1/4 ounce coins or larger amounts of silver.

The 1964 United States Proof Set is a “One Year Type Proof Set” that is almost 40 years old. 1964 was the only Year that the Proof Kennedy Half Dollar was made in 90% Silver. Since the United States Mint has starting selling Silver Proof Sets in 1999, their value has been steadily increasing, with the most recent sets starting at .95. When you consider the 1964 Silver Proof Sets in the light of these facts, “THEY ARE A GREAT VALUE!” Sure to increase in the future.
A few well-known gold coins. Note, in view of comments received – I’m tired of explaining: Please do not get hurt / upset / tense by the way I handle the coins. These are common BULLION coins, they are NOT rare / collectors / numismatic coins. That means their only value is in their weight, not their face condition. It means that they are handled and traded heavily by bullion dealers and (within reason) their face condition does not affect premium or spot price. Bullion coins and bars are traded for gold content and weight, not surface condition. All bullion is handled unprotected – because it’s sold in large quantities, individual coins are not slabbed or protected. Every coin I buy has been handled/stacked/tipped/wrapped in rolls by previous bullion dealers, and most are heavily marked by handling. When buying bullion, this is really not a problem. If you’re concerned about numismatic value/face condition of coins, don’t buy bullion! And there are plenty of videos on youtube with coins in plastic slabs, you’ll be happier there. Hope that clears things.
